YouTube Videos of the Phochron in action. Test a box camera in under two minutes!

A closer look...

The Phochron XA is packed with features usually only found in professional equipment offered at a fraction of the cost. Proudly made in the USA.

The optional dual sensor module is used for performing detailed testing on 35mm SLR curtain shutters.  A small slide switch on the back of the module selects which of the two sensors are used. This module is not included in the basic tester package, but can be purchased separately. You do not have to have this module to test SLR cameras.

The front panel has a built-in sensitive photodiode sensor for quick and simple shutter tests. The external sensor jack is used with the optional dual sensor module.

The pushbutton navigation makes using the Phochron XA intuitive and simple to operate. Automatic power saver shuts the tester down after 5 minutes of inactivity.

The sensors can detect pulses as narrow as 20 micro-seconds wide. This is the equivalent of 1/50,000th of a second. The displayed waveform shows the light amplitude in an oscilloscope fashion, allowing the user to look for slow opening and closing speeds or bounce conditions. The shutter time is shown as both milliseconds and as a fraction of a second. A running average speed of multiple tests is displayed.
